Hello Hanna

Now I finally find you at this site. 🥰

I’m so happy that I met you and Victoria from ”Puppimithertz”

I really enjoyed our little small talks when we sat there and struggled with wool and needles.

I appreciate it really 🥰

Have a wonderful summer with your family and friends.

Dolores (from Sweden)

Oh how lovely to hear from you Dolores and thank you for finding me! Yes it was lovely to spend time together talking and sewing. It feels already like a lifetime ago but not even a month has passed. Have a good summer too, Sweden is beautiful in the summer.

It's a really lovely event, I'd recommend it for anyone that enjoys sewing and dolls and creating characters. You don't need to be doll-mad, but you do need to enjoy being in that childhood/imagination/play frame of mind.

I'm always happy to talk about doll-making! What would you like to know?

Oh man I don't know if I have too many specific questions. I just don't know much about the Waldorf doll process though I found some good tutorials on YouTube. I am curious what is the material typically used for the doll that goes over the needle felted head? Currently I'm most interested in learning multiple types of doll making processes and then playing with how to combine the knowledge of different processes.

There's a lot of learning online, do you know Fig and Me? Fabiola there has a lot of good tutorials on youtube.

There are two types of fabric commonly used to cover the head. First tubular bandage; you can buy this online but also the sort you can buy from a chemist is alright. This helps to smooth down the tiny bumps and also gives another layer of fabric to sew into for embroidering the face.

The second layer, outermost, is cotton jersey. Like t-shirt material. Again there are special brands specifically for doll-making, but you can also use general jersey. It needs to be a little thicker rather than thinner, and be sturdy. The tricks of the trade lie in making the jersey follow the curves of the face closely.

Yes! I think that's the tutorial I found a while ago! I need to watch them again and actually attempt to follow along and make a doll for my daughter or something.

Ah ok, good to know! Thanks for all the info!

What a lovely community to be a part of. And I am glad Pilar got to meet her sister again too. The little dolls (and their tiny accessories) are just adorable, and so creative!
